EASTENDERS star Charlie Brooks channels Janine Butcher in gripping new Channel 5 drama Lie With Me.

Charlie, 40, played evil Janine in the BBC soap until March 2014, and it seems she has channeled some of the character’s traits for her new role.

Charlie plays Anna Fallmont in the chilling drama, who moves to Australia with her family after infidelity rocks her marriage in London.

They hire a young local nanny called Becky who isn’t as innocent as she appears, and deadly consequences follow.

The first trailer sees Charlie look unsettled and then paranoid as the young nanny settles into her home, and her husband – played by Neighbours star Brett Tucker – starts to act suspiciously.

As the dramatic trailer ramps up, a body bag is seen being zipped up and as a shaking and wide-eyed Anna appears on screen a female voice says: “She just gets so angry.”

Charlie filmed the drama in Australia earlier this year

The trailer ends with all the characters looking upset, angst-ridden or terrified as Anna says: “This country is full of things that could kill you.”

The cast also includes newcomer Phoebe Roberts as the nanny Anna and Jake invite into their home.

The series wrapped production on location in Melbourne, Australia earlier this year and Charlie will soon be swapping Down Under for Albert Square once again.

Back in April, HOAR exclusively revealed how Charlie had agreed to return as superbitch Janine Butcher after seven years.

She will be returning to Albert Square later this year

The legendary character will be part of a “huge story” later this year and Charlie has since been pictured back on set.

An EastEnders source said: “Bosses have a huge story planned for Charlie’s return.

“They are keeping tight-lipped about whether Janine will come back as a reformed character after all the chaos she has caused in the past.

“But she certainly has a lot of history in Albert Square so whether she will be welcomed back with open arms or not remains to be seen.

Lie With Me is coming soon to Channel 5.
