EASTENDERS star Chris Coghill looks totally different to evil abuser character Tony King over a decade after his TV debut.

The soap star rose to fame back in 2008 when he was cast as controversial role of Tony – who was introduced to Albert Square as Bianca Jackson’s boyfriend.

The star has grown up a lot in his 13 years away from the show

Abuser Tony became part of the family with Bianca – played by Patsy Palmer – as he became a father figure to her four children, including Whitney Dean.

He began assaulting Whitney – played by Shona McCarty – in distressing scenes, as well as her school friend Lauren Branning, depicted by Madeline Duggan.

Tony’s predatory nature was quickly uncovered by the Walford residents and he was arrested for his crimes, before finally being sent to prison in 2009.

Now – almost 13 years after his final appearance on the BBC One soap – the star has shocked fans with his incredibly different looks from his TV role.

Actor Chris, 46, has switched out his clean-shaven look for a thick full beard, and allowed his sweeping locks to grow out enough to be slicked back.

He was spotted posing for a photo with a friend on Twitter in the summer of 2020, as the pal gushed over him being a “top actor” and “great writer”.

Since his EastEnders appearance, Chris has gone on to The Royal as ambulance driver Bobby Sheridan and in BBC One drama Moving On.

He also had a small role in season four of hit crime drama Line Of Duty, as well as Waterloo Road, The Bill and Holby City throughout his career.

Away from the silver screen, Chris married his ex-wife and celebrity chef Lisa Faulkner in 2005 after meeting on the set of a TV show years before.

The couple adopted a daughter together after returning from their luxury honeymoon to Malaysia – but sadly the marriage broke down in 2011.

Last year, fans of EastEnders were left stunned when we uncovered what the child stars of the soap look like now, years after their debut.

Many of the BBC soap’s child stars have gone on pursue careers in very different fields – take little Janine Butcher, who’s ended up working at Google.

While we also revealed what some of the most iconic EastEnders stars look like now – from Ian Beale to Pauline Fowler.
