Gangster Jonah did it to force her to pay protection money.

Fortunately Sam stepped up by blackmailing ex Jack Branning to blackmail Jonah into agreeing with her terms.

After successfully blackmailing Jonah, Sam visited Phil to give him the good news.

BABY LOVE

EastEnders star Matt Di Angelo reveals wife is pregnant with TWINS

“You done?” she said.

“It’s sorted. Jonah has agreed to everything. He wants in on the chicken shops, he’ll get his men to front it, and he’s agreed to ten per cent.

“And he’s agreed to call off the dogs. And I don’t mean Kat and Sharon. You’re welcome.”

She added: “Look Phil, I’ve grown up. Losing mum, it shook me. She didn’t even call me from her death bed.

“I understand why. I’ve been an embarrassment to this family, but not anymore. I want to prove myself, I’m not your baby sister anymore.”

And Phil agreed – putting her in charge of all his businesses and assets.

And she couldn’t wait to tell Kat the good news.

“Phil’s put me in charge – of everything,” Sam said, leaving Kat furious.

Kat told her: “I’ve changed my mind. I need to step up for my family, and that includes Phil.

“You shafted my daughter and threw her to the wolves, Phil’s a fool to trust you. You ruined my family once before, I’m not going to stand back and watch you ruin everything Phil’s worked for.

“If anyone’s going to be the head of this family it’s me. Your mum was a legend, you’re not even a rumour. I’m Mrs Mitchell now.”

Fans are stunned by the development.

A second said of the Sam and Kat scenes: “It’s the pairing we’ve all been waiting for.”

Another added: “I’m loving all the sassy matriarchal drama between Sharon, Kat and Sam. It’s very Peggy, Pat and Pauline vibes. Some cracking one liners.”
