EASTENDERS fans are predicting disaster for Tiffany Butcher after she agreed to be a surrogate for Rainie and Stuart.
The teenager – who is played by actress Maisie Smith in the BBC soap – agreed to be illegally paid £10,000 to carry and give birth to the funeral director couple’s baby.
Surrogacy in the UK is tightly controlled and commercial surrogacy is illegal, meaning Rainie and Stuart are breaking the law.
At first her husband Keegan was furious and told Stuart and Rainie where to go – but Tiffany reminded him that she gets to make the decisions about her body.
She went away and watched a pregnancy video and decided that she wanted to do it.
Summoning Keegan she told him: “It was so beautiful. And I can do this, I know I can so I think we should just go for it.
“We’ll treat it like a job. They get their baby and we get the money and we can stick it into the business.”
She added: “I remember how you used to talk about the future, like the world was just there for the taking and I love that about you. Chantelle would want you to take that money and fly. Fly high as you can. Tell me I’m wrong?”
Later Tiffany told Rainie and Stuart her decision.
She said: “Sorry if we’re interrupting. About what happened earlier, look we’ve had a proper think about it and if the offer’s still there we want to help.
“We want to have your baby for you.”
A tearful Rainie began sobbing as she said: “Thank you. Thank you so much.”
Stuart then jumped up excited and screamed: “We’re going to make a beautiful baby all four of us together, yeah? I can’t believe it!”
But as Tiff joined in on the excited squeals, but Keegan looked horrified at what he had agreed to.
And fans were predicting disaster for all of them.
One wrote: “If this surrogate story does happen, who wants to bet either Tiff or Keegan wants to keep the baby and this storyline becomes a whole court case thing?.”
A second said: “NO Tiff! being a surrogate will end in tears for Rainie.”
Another added: “Surrogacy is the right option for Stainie but Tiffany is not the answer.”
