EASTENDERS legend Martin Kemp will go on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! for his 60th birthday next year, his son Roman has claimed.

The 27-year-old star teased that his famous dad will be following in his footsteps in 2021 after he landed third place in last year’s series of the ITV reality show.

There was a mini reunion for the cast of 2019 on today’s Good Morning Britain, with Roman joining fellow I’m A Celeb alumni Kate Garraway and Myles Stephenson ahead of the show’s launch on Sunday.

Host Ben Shephard couldn’t resist asking Roman about his old man signing up for the show after he admitted he fancied going in after watching his son compete.

Roman laughed: “Martin Kemp 2021 is what I am going for – I want to see that, genuinely I want to see that.

“You’d have to ask my dad but it’s his 60th next year and for his 60th birthday to be literally miserable in a jungle…

“That would be great, please.”

In August, HOAR Online revealed that 59-year-old Martin had been offered a big money deal to appear on the show this year.

A source told us at the time: “Martin had been approached earlier in the year but couldn’t have made it work because of prior commitments.

“But after coronavirus cleared his schedule the only thing standing between him and the show is whether ITV can afford his fee.”

However, he evidently turned down the offer with fellow ‘Enders stars Shane Richie and Jessica Plummer signing up for the show instead.

They will be joined by the likes of Sir Mo Farah, Giovanna Fletcher, and Vernon Kay as they battle it out to be crowned King or Queen of the Castle.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, filming has been relocated to spooky Gwrych Castle in Wales for the first time in the ITV reality show’s history.

The new series kicks off this Sunday at 9pm, with Ant and Dec returning to host as usual.
