FOUR actresses took over the role of Ian Beale’s golden girl Lucy over the decades.

Making her EastEnders debut in 1993, the character was notably portrayed by Casey Anne Rothery. But where is she now?

Her appearance drastically changed

A daughter and a sister, Lucy met a grisly demise on April 18, 2014, when she was bludgeoned to death by her brother Bobby Beale.

This led to one of the soap’s most talked about and longest running storylines in the show’s history.

Prior to her death, she had been known for taking a villainous rather than rebellious turn and even got involved with teenage bad boy Craig Dixon.

But before even becoming the mischievous teenager Walford knew, she was Ian’s eldest daughter and, as mentioned above, made first settled into the Square with her family in the 1990’s.

During her first appearance, Lucy was played by Eva Brittin-Snell for three short years until Casey Anne reprised the role in 1996 and remained in Albert Square for eight years.

Casey hasn’t been seen on the box since her departure from the fictional London borough in 2004, as Melissa Suffield took over Lucy’s role.

Despite stepping away from the limelight since her giving life to Lucy Beale, thus not taking on anymore roles after her experience, the former child actress remains active on social media, particularly Instagram.

This is where some curious EastEnders fans have noticed how grown-up Casey looks as her appearance is shockingly different.

Over the years since leaving the programme, she has been giving in to many trends.

In 2013, she was seen surprisingly sporting a short, blond and edgy bowl haircut along with some thick-rimmed glasses.

But after following the trend, Casey has most recently opted for longer hair, only a shade darker than it used to be, and has given up on her glasses, ready to show off her bright blue eyes.

Her Instagram page features her day-to-day life which includes many outings with friends.

However, in 2020, she posted a short message in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.

A year earlier, she was even seen on Instagram in the company of two small children, suggesting she could be living a happy family life.

As of 2021, she is said to be living in Marbella, Spain, although her latest Instagram post (from August 15, 2021) claims that she has also been travelling to Manchester.

But as she seemingly prefers to stay away from the spotlight, Casey definitely won’t be sharing much of her life with the worldwide web.

Despite never returning to TV after EastEnders, could she still be religiously watching the show?
