EASTENDERS’ Shaun Williamson takes a pill, snorts a tiny version of himself and hallucinates during a fake drug binge in the music video for new club anthem Braindead (Heroin Kills).
The actor, who played Barry in the BBC One soap, mimes along to the rhythmic track by Italian DJ Piero Pirupa – which is about the downfalls of using illegal substances.
Shaun, 54, signed up to take part in the video after being approached by the up-and-coming artist.
The song, Braindead (Heroin Kills) has proved an early hit with Radio 1 DJ MistaJam describing the track as the “biggest clean living anti-drug dance anthem of a generation.”
In the video Shaun is seen going through various moods and experiences – including seeing hundreds of versions of himself after taking a hallucinogenic substance.
At one point he also pretends to lose control of his limbs before he collapses and his brain jumps out of his skull and attacks the people around him.
Lyrics in the song include the lines: “Heroin kills, stay away from pills.
“If you use cocaine wave goodbye to your brain.”
Piero is recognised as one of dance’s most respected tastemakers and has previously released music on the likes of Drumcode, Defected, Toolroom, Relief, Repopulate Mars, Rebirth and Snatch! Records, as well as his own label, NONSTOP.
The DJ has worked with a number of big name artists and has remixed songs for funk legend Jamiroquai.
Since leaving EastEnders in 2004, Shaun has gone on to have a number of television roles.
Most recently the actor joined the cast of new BBC2 sitcom Mister Winner.
For the role he lost almost a stone and said his healthier new lifestyle came from making simple, clever swaps.
Shaun said earlier this week: “I lost 10lb – by drinking gin instead of beer.
“But I also power walk. Three miles to Tesco’s then three miles back holding the shopping. It took 10lb off over six weeks.”
