EASTENDERS has released a sinister Christmas trailer which teases the return of Lucas Johnson, Ian Beale’s attacker and dark plans from killer Gray Atkins.

The tone of the episode is clear, despite the 30 second clip kicking off with a festive street party led by Kim Fox and Patrick Trueman.

Ian’s killer is set to be revealed

This quickly leads into Ian ominously declaring: “I will do whatever it takes to make this the best Christmas.”

Before his new wife Sharon Watts replies: “This is a good time to start getting into everyone’s good books.”

Which leads the clip into glimpses of Ian’s suspected attackers – among them Peter, Bobby and Sharon.

Denise is petrified at the return of her ex husband Lucas

The trailer dramatically ends with Ian saying in desperation: “There is someone out there trying to kill me – it could be anyone!”

And it’s not just Ian’s killer who is set to be revealed during the Christmas episode, fans see a passionate kiss between Linda Carter and Max Branning, which could signal the end of her relationship with husband Mick.

A terrified Denise Fox is seen screaming as she comes face-to-face with her murdering ex husband Lucas Johnson.

Meanwhile a brooding Gray Atkins is seen staring at a dishwasher full of sharp knives – clearly haunted by the death of his wife Chantelle.

In a build up to the Christmas episode, Ian was left in fear when he received a bullet in the post, following his brutal attack.

The love triangle continues between Max, Linda and Mick

Things have been going from bad to worse for the chip shop owner, who only recently left hospital where he was fighting for his life.

Fans of the show have been left on the edge of their seats as various suspects have been lined up to get rid of the long time character played by soap legend Adam Woodyatt.
