EASTENDERS’ Jean Slater is going to be devastated next week when she realises Daniel will die soon.
The cleaner – who is played by actress Gillian Wright in the BBC soap – is struggling with her own cancer battle but was overjoyed when Daniel made a return from the dead at Christmas having originally faked his death.
Jean is set for devastation as she realises Daniel will be dead within weeks
He decided to throw a funeral for himself last year so he could “die” over worries Jean would be too hurt by his real death.
And it looks like he was right as over the last month the couple have become closer and it’s safe to say Jean is completely in love with the acid-tongued Daniel.
Next week it’s all laid bare when Daniel begins feeling more and more unwell and tells her he can’t make it to the boat party.
As Jean hides her disappointment, Rainie arrives and takes Daniel to task over giving them the runaround with his fake funeral plans.
He plans an elaborate romantic surprise
She’s overjoyed for now
But she’s knocked off her ranting when Daniel tells her he needs to prepare for his real funeral now that he only has weeks left to live.
Later with Jean visibly upset, Daniel snaps at her over his own personal struggles as he tries to come to terms with his imminent death.
But for Jean things get worse when she runs into Suki Panesar who starts probing her about the treatment she’s on for her own cancer battle.
Everything becomes too much for her and it’s clear Jean can’t cope with the pressures of losing Daniel so soon.
