EASTENDERS Peter Beale will return to Walford as his split with Lauren Branning is confirmed.

Peter – who will now be played by newcomer Dayle Hudson on the BBC soap – rekindled his relationship with Lauren in New Zealand but then turned to booze to deal with his demons.

Peter is called to the hospital when Bobby is injured

It was announced at the end of last year that Peter Beale would be returning to EastEnders.

Around that time, Peter and Lauren Branning were mentioned on screen when Kathy revealed that Ian was visiting them in New Zealand because they were having relationship troubles.

Fans were confused because the soap had never actually confirmed whether the pair had managed to rekindle their relationship when Lauren left the soap in 2018 to give things another go with her ex Peter – who was living in New Zealand.

She made quite the departure when she walked out of her sister Abis funeral, walking straight past her boyfriend Steven and seemingly heading to live in the cemetery.

But clearly she did get back together with Peter, in order for the couple to break up once again and pave the way for Peters return next week.

Dayle Hudson will play Peter Beale in EastEnders

In an upcoming episode, when Bobby Beale is left fighting for his life in hospital, Kathy calls Peter and begs him to come and sit by Bobby’s side.

Meanwhile, with the boat party in full swing, Denise suggests that Jack tells Max the truth.

Jack reluctantly tells Max that hes been helping Lauren after she split from Peter.

But Max reacts badly and ends up throwing a punch at Jack.

After Peter moved to New Zealand in 2015, it was revealed that hed been struggling to cope and had turned to the bottle to cope with his demons.

The soap has confirmed that Peter will return to the show a drug addict and troubled man, hoping to exorcise his demons

The soap’s executive producer Jon Sen told HOAR Online: “Peter Beale is a wonderful character with a very complicated history.

“He’s got a great heart and he’s got a very damaged soul. He’s returning to Walford to exorcise some demons.”
