EASTENDERS favourite Maisie Smith has been caught on camera ­smoking a spliff at the wheel of her car before driving off.

The 19-year-old star, who plays Tiffany Butcher in Albert Square, pulled on to wasteland to puff away on a “strong smelling” rolled-up cigarette while behind the wheel.

But after finishing, she quickly drove off as a police car pulled into the area — a former waste tip.

Exclusive photographs show Maisie, who joined the BBC soap in 2008 as a child star, smoking while chatting to a female pal.

An eyewitness said a strong smell seeped from the open ­window as the pair spent 40 ­minutes parked up after ­arriving at 3.50pm on Sunday.

After initially stopping, the duo chatted for around 15 minutes, before moving the white VW golf to a more secluded corner.

They spent another seven minutes ­rolling the cigarette before ­smoking it — until a police car arrived at 4.30pm.

Moments later, Maisie drove away from the area on Two Tree Island, Essex — followed by cops.

An onlooker said: “Locals know this area as a spot for people   having a smoke.

“She had the     window open and the smell was  really strong. I couldn’t believe she was doing it while driving.”

Maisie lives in nearby Westcliff-on-Sea with her parents and ­sister Scarlett.

EastEnders did not comment.
