EMMERDALE fans are devastated after Vinny Dingle woke up and covered up for his abusive dad Paul Ashdale.
The scrap metal worker – who is played by actor Bradley Johnson in the ITV soap – woke up from his surgery and apologised to his mum for ruining her wedding day.
“Sorry about all this – I ruined your big day, didn’t I?” he said before asking for his dad and panicking at his dad’s reaction.
Mandy broke the news to Vinny that Paul was dead
She told him: “There was an accident at the barn and a truck came off the road and crashed into it.
“Your dad was trapped inside, they tried everything they could, Vinny he’s gone.”
She added: “It’s just our Aaron and Liv said he used to lash out at you – is it true? Sweetheart you can tell me the truth.”
Vinny refused to admit the truth and told her: “I don’t know why they’re saying this, dad’s dead and you’re grieving.
“He’d never do anything to hurt us, he loved us.”
But realising the truth, Mandy was horrified and said: “Oh my god what has that man done to you?”
Mandy broke down in tears and said: “Vinny.”
As she sobbed viewers joined her.
