Desperate not to lose his son Leo after discovering his ex Rhona Goskirk’s plan to flee the village, seemingly because of Graham, he took matters into his own hands.

The chef threatened to bash Graham with a weighty torch in a blistering row and then arranged for a night time showdown in the woods, where Graham’s body was found.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer wrote: “I hated Pierce’s character! Poor Rhona Marlon is going to be framed for sure… Marlon doesn’t deserve this .”

A second posted: “I think Marlon will get framed for it in the first instance.”

A third shared: “Will poor Marlon be fitted up for Graham murder???.”

Rapist Pierce – who is played by actor Jonathan Wrather in the ITV soap – made a bombshell return, hitting Graham Foster over the head.

Pierce made a shock return tonight when he was revealed as Graham’s killer

Wearing a black hoody, the villain stepped behind Graham in the woods and smashed him over the head – killing him.

Vile Pierce was sentenced to five years in prison in 2017 after subjecting Rhona to a violent and horrifying rape on their wedding day.

He later convinced his mother to stalk Rhona in an effort to avoid punishment for his crime.

Rhona has bravely fought back from the brink and recovered from what Pierce did to her but fans are horrified he has returned.

It took viewers by surprise, with one writng: “OMG ..pierce!!!! Some of us said this at work but…. they did make sure we knew he was out too!!! Wow..just wow well done and sad to see graham go…..”

A fourth wrote: “OMG What A Twist. Congratulations Emmerdale. Never See That One Coming #BestSoapEver #BestStoryline.”

Earlier this month Rhona received a phone call from victim support informing her that Pierce would soon be up for early release having served half his sentence.

There appear to have been other clues about Pierces return too.

Last week Rhona heard banging in her house and rushed to check it out only to assume it was Vanessa at the veterinary surgery linked to the cottage.

There was also the disappearance of Rhonas son Leos passport that she blamed ex Marlon for.

All have pointed to the return of Pierce, but viewers will have to wait until tomorrow nights episode to see Grahams murder from his perspective.
