THE pressure of being Meena Jutla’s sister becomes unbearable for Manpreet Sharma next week.
As the serial killer’s plea hearing rocks Emmerdale, the GP vanishes into thin air.
Caught after returning to the eponymous village after crashing Dawn Taylor and Billy Fletcher’s wedding, Meena (played by Paige Sandhu) has been charged with murder and kept in prison.
But even from behind bars, the sinister nurse has gone above and beyond to manipulate and wreak havoc among residents.
As her plea hearing approaches, some characters like vicar Charles Anderson and Manpreet (Rebecca Sarker) are desperate to get a confession out of her.

Coming up, Manpreet puts on a brave face as she nervously awaits for Meena’s plea hearing but she remains apprehensive.
This is due to the knowledge that Charles (Kevin Mathurin) and Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) won’t be able to discuss the criminal’s confession on the stand.
However, Manpreet finds out she won’t get the same treatment as she is to testify against her sister.
The task proves to be overwhelming for the Emmerdale GP and Manpreet’s worries get the best of her – she suffers a panic attack caused by all the pressure.
In sheer distress, and evidently still coping with the trauma of being held captive by Meena over the festive period, Manpreet jumps into her car and sets off.
But the drive is unsuccessful at calming her down.
Manpreet abandons her phone and her vehicle, disappearing into the night without warning.
Meanwhile, the anticipation grows in the village ahead of Meena’s hearing and many are ready to face the serial killer in court.
To their surprise, and even after trying to pin the blame on Manpreet, Meena pleads guilty to the first of her multiple charges… but could this be a ploy?
Soon, villagers turn their attention to Manpreet’s unexplained absence and become concerned.
As mentioned above, Manpreet was held hostage by Meena in December 2021, alongside Vinny Dingle.
After being saved by Liam in a dramatic showdown, she was run over by former fiancé Charles and remained unconscious for several days, at death’s door.
When she woke up, Manpreet was heavily shaken, even believing one of the nurses being Meena, ready to silence her once and for all.
Where will Manpreet go and could she ever return?
