Matthew Wolfenden and Charley Webb are both huge Emmerdale stars

1. Charley Webb and Matthew Wolfenden start dating – 2007

The couple met on the set of ITV’s soap Emmerdale.

Charley, 31, joined the long-running show in 2002 as a teenager and plays the character of Debbie Dingle, child of Cain and Charity Dingle.

Matthew joined the Yorkshire Dales four years later in 2006, playing the role of David Metcalfe and is the son of Eric Pollard (played by Chris Chittell, Emmerdale’s longest serving actor).

The two began dating the following year after Matthew’s arrival in 2007.

Charley and Matthew had a baby boy called Buster in 2010.

Their second child Bowie Grey was born on December 19, but Webb revealed to OK! Magazinethat her waters actually broke the day before, when they were on the way to Mothercare.

She was induced the following day to avoid risk of infection and was in labour for “just under five hours”. “My water birth went straight out the window,” Webb joked.

TheEmmerdalestars also explained that the name Bowie wasn’t a tribute. “Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of David Bowie but that wasn’t why we chose the name. We just both loved it,” Wolfenden explained.

Their youngest son Ace was born in July, 2019, and the couple spoke about the difficult arrival of their third child, who initially was not breathing.

Charley said: “The umbilical cord was wrapped around Aces neck when he was born. It came off and he was passed to me but I could tell something was wrong,

“Ace wasnt breathing at first so the midwife had to press the panic button.”

Matthew added: “She said hed cough and splutter, but he didnt, so she had Ace on his front and was rubbing his back. Eventually and it felt like an hour but it was probably just seconds he coughed and was fine. By the time someone had come through the door from the panic button being pressed, Ace was breathing again, so it couldnt have been long. Although it felt like a lifetime.”

5. Charley Webb and Matthew Wolfenden get back together – 2015

They then got back together in 2015 and Matthew told the Daily Record at the time: “It was never a permanent split, we just needed some time apart.”

He continued: “Sometimes life just gets on top of you. We had a terrible two-year-old at the time and needed time to look at what we had but it was the best thing we could have done.”

Now Im maybe more thoughtful, more romantic.”

6. Charley and Matthew get married – 2018

The Emmerdale stars decided to hold a surprise wedding on February 10th 2018, and got the ball rolling by telling their guests they were attending a party for Charley’s 30th birthday.

Guests were shocked to see the two exchange wedding vows and Charley’s brother and Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas stepped into his wedding role with no notice whatsoever.

Charley and David’s Emmerdale co-star Lucy Pargeter was a bridesmaid.

Speaking to OK! magazine about the big day, Charley said: “This way we got to do it totally the way we wanted it wasnt traditional, we didnt have a sit-down meal and there werent loads of speeches.

Matthew added: “We couldnt have had a better response. People just screamed for about ten minutes! Its funny to think that our guests thought they were coming to Charleys 30th party then we told them it was our wedding!”

The place is stunning and has amazing views but they needed to live closer to work.
