The star was first introduced in 2007

He and his then-wife Hilary arrived in the village to visit Laurel, eventually helping as she grieved for her son Daniel, who passed away from cot death.

The character later gets a divorce from Hilary and suffers a midlife crisis.

In probably his most famous storyline, he catches an STI from Bonnie Drinkwater.

Brenda Walker notices him scratching his crotch and reports him to the police – however, he’s released without charge when it’s revealed he has the infection.

Eventually he falls for Diane Sugden, but the romance fails as she doesn’t reciprocate his feelings.

He tries to rekindle his relationship with Hilary after this – and so leaves the village.

On his return, he moves back in with Laurel and helps Diane with her cancer diagnosis.

Most recently he was caught after secretly smoking cannabis around the village in order to treat his back pain.

Duncan is a soap veteran, having played Dennis Stokes in Corrie, Gerald Payne and David Cousins in Holby City, and Tommy Tanner and Don Foster in Heartbeat.

He’s also appeared as Stan in Dinnerladies and Mr Clifford in Acorn Antiques.
