EMMERDALE fans were left fuming at Liam Cavannagh tonight after Leyla Harding was left sobbing over his reaction to her suspected miscarriage.
Viewers feared the pair could be heading for a split after Leyla was forced to hide her pregnancy from her doctor husband – who is still grieving over his murdered daughter Leanna.
Leyla – played by Roxy Shahidi in the ITV soap – blurted out her pregnancy telling Liam she took seven tests and had visited the hospital when she started unexpectedly bleeding.
At first Liam chastised Leyla for not telling him about the pregnancy sooner, and she explained “I didn’t know how, I hoped you would have noticed.
“I was skipping wine, I wasn’t drinking coffees. Then I thought yesterday was the right time but I started bleeding.”
Liam soon kicked into medical-mode and asked: “Look, do you have any questions?”
“Liam, our baby might have just died,” the wedding planner told him.
After asking him was he upset about her suspected miscarriage, Liam replied: “I don’t know.
“I don’t know how I feel. I think maybe I’ve just lost so much already that this…
“A lot of pregnancies end in miscarriage, it’s common, and clinically this is really early. It’s first trimester. I’m sorry if that sounds harsh.”
Looking crestfallen, Leyla reminded him she had a scan the following day to investigate her bleeding, but Liam said he was too busy to attend.
Viewers reacted on Twitter as Leyla wiped away tears.
One said: “So it’s Leylas’ fault that she couldn’t tell you she was pregnant in case she upset you Liam? Riiiiiight”
Another wrote on Twitter: “Leyla really just needed a hug or something then Liam!”
And one more insisted: “Poor Leyla! Liam is so cold!”
