Lisa Riley has revealed she’s been sober for five years

The bubbly 44-year-old, who is best known for playing Mandy Dingle in the ITV soap, shared a handwritten note with her social media followers.

The list of numbers on the sheet of paper read: “5 years / 60 months / 1827 days / 43848 hours / 2630880 minutes / 157852800 seconds”.

Lisa then went on to explain in a detailed caption: “CELEBRATION ?????Wow FIVE years ago today I drank my last drop of alcohol

“I wouldn’t change it for ANYTHING, my life is so much clearer, happier, gained more glow, laugh so much harder, having the life I always dreamt of, no fake friendships, needing that someone who NEVER knows when to go home, not cringing when I open my eyes (have I argued with anyone) not remembering, that’s the WORST, maybe, we’ll not actually maybe, CERTAINLY, if you can’t remember it’s REALLY time to fully STOP!!!

“Living on stories from the past…..they are done, they happened, move forward.”

She used a handwritten note to show the importance of her achievement

The soap favourite plays Mandy Dingle is ITV’s Emmerdale

The soap favourite, who returned to Emmerdale in January after 18 years away, continued: “And also just live the rest of your life free from all that is fake and false, have personal awareness that the ones you have around you, whilst boozing are more than likely around for the wrong reasons, because YOU are paying for the alcohol.

“Have a think, you might NOT drink…..yeah yeah yeah that rhymes… enjoy a drink, should you wish (I won’t) don’t get saturated in it, big big difference.

“Feel so so so proud, that it’s not in my life, and you know what?? I doubt it ever will be again CHEERS”.

Lisa, who is engaged to musician Al, has been extremely forthcoming about her decision to ditch alcohol in the past.

Two years ago, during a Loose Women discussion on how people often underestimate how much alcohol they are consuming, she drew on her own experience of excess drinking.

She said: “It’s coming up to three years that I haven’t had a drop of drink. That was not with being an alcoholic but with all my change and stuff.

“I vividly remember when we were filming Fat Friends in about series three or four – and especially four when my gran died – I know I was self-medicating fully.

“I was having a bottle – or a bottle-and-a-half – of wine a night.”

Before that, in a column for The Mirror, Lisa opened up about her own battles with alcohol after Brad Pitt spoke about his own struggle in a candid interview.
