EMMERDALE’S Lucy Pargeter revealed she is being bombarded with abuse as “fans hate Chas Dingle”.
The actress, 43, said the bad choices of her famous character is having a negative consequence on her life.
Currently Chas Dingle is going through a rough patch with Paddy Kirk – played by Dominic Brunt.
Through this, the landlady has begun a flirtatious friendship with Al Chapman (Michael Wildman).
Then Paddy decided to go for a drink with his ex Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley).
However, as the couple are an Emmerdale fan-favourite, viewers have taken issue with this recent rift – and have been very vocal about blaming Chas.
“She’s not very popular!” Lucy told Metro.co.uk.
“The fans are hating it! So many comments, she’s trying to use the death of her child.
“Others claim she is an abuser, she is a mental abuser – oh my god, I didn’t realise the scenes had that much impact!
“People aren’t liking her right now – and I don’t think they should! She’s not very popular!
“When we did the scenes with Al, Michael was pooing his pants over the backlash – if I split Paddy and Chas up, that’s the final nail in my coffin, I’m off!”
Fans will have to wait until next week to see if Paddy cheats on Chas with Mandy.
The scenes will see Paddy getting drunk with his ex at the Dingles’ cottage.
However, Chas becomes suspicious when he doesn’t return for the night.
After she invited Al Chapman to a hotel – with Paddy overhearing – Chas fears the worst.
