EASTENDERS star Natalie Cassidy looks worlds apart from Sonia Fowler in her new role in sitcom Mandy.

The actress – who plays nurse Sonia in the BBC soap – will play a cockney crime boss in an episode of the BBC Two comedy.

Diane Morgan, who will star in comedy she wrote as Mandy, says she is unsure of what fans will think of Natalie using expletive language on the show.

She told The Guardian: “I’m not sure how people will feel about her effing and jeffing. They’ll either be appalled or think it’s fantastic.”

Diane, 44, is also the writer and director of the series and plays the ambitious character of Mandy.

Her biggest dream of all is breeding Doberman Pinchers.

But there are hurdles to overcome before that dream can become a reality.

In the series we’ll see her go on a health kick, rent out her small back bedroom on Airbnb and attempt a series of short-lived jobs in the modern gig economy.

The cast also features a plethora of guest stars including Tom Basden from Plebs and After Life), Game of Thrones’ David Bradley, 8 Out Of 10 Cats star Sean Lock and The Bisexual actress Maxine Peake.

Broadcaster Iain Lee also makes an appearance in Mandy, as well as Motherland’s Emily Dean and Leonadro star Akemnji Ndifornyen.

The show’s Producer is Sam Ward and the Executive Producer is Ben Caudell. Alex Moody will assume the role as The Commissioning Editor for the BBC.
