FORMER Coronation Street star Katie McGlynn is ‘in talks to sign up for Strictly’.
The actress quit the Cobbles last year, with her character Sinead Tinker passing away in October.
Now The Mirror claims Katie, 26, is to follow in the footsteps of fellow former Corrie stars Catherine Tyldesley and Georgia May Foote and take to the Strictly dance floor.
A source told the outlet: “Katie has been in talks with Strictly and it’s looking positive.
“She’s cleared her diary for the end of the year as she’d love to do it.
“She’s shown her talent on the BBC’s Greatest Dancer for Sport Relief and would love to improve even further.
“She’d be a great pull for the show as soap fans loved her on Corrie.”
The report comes as HOAR on Sunday revealed this year’s series will feature an all-female couple for the first time.
The BBC1 series plans to secure a high-profile lesbian or bisexual female celeb to make up one half of the show’s inaugural same-sex pairing.
Previous reports suggested Strictly’s gay professional Johannes Radebe would be teamed up with a male star.
But bosses are said to have decided that would be too “predictable”.
A Strictly production source said: “Obviously ‘diversity’ is the key word in television today and, of course, Strictly wants to be progressive.
“The plan is to have a same-sex couple, and two women. Dancing On Ice featured two men, so it would be good to offer something different and keep pushing boundaries.
“While Johannes would love to dance with a guy, that would almost be too predictable.
“But all of the pros, male and female, have said they would be delighted to be partnered with someone of their own gender.”
