HOLLYOAKS legend Gemma Atkinson is desperate to join Coronation Street as someone “northern, feisty and a little bit chavvy”.
The actress – who has appeared in Casualty and Emmerdale, as well as the Channel 4 soap as Lisa Hunter – says the Cobbles is the last soap destination she needs to go to.
And with Corrie filming in the same city Gemma lives, she says it’s a perfect match.
She told Inside Soap: “I think the only one left for me to do is Corrie. And it’s filmed in my city, so that would be perfect!
“I’d love to have a character like Suranne Jones had with Karen McDonald – Northern, feisty, and a little bit chavvy. Someone who always has the right intentions, but ends up in the wrong predicament.”
As well as playing Lisa Hunter, she played Carly Hope in Emmerdale and Tamzin Bayle in Casualty.
However, the former Strictly Come Dancing contestant – who is in a relationship with pro Gorka Marquez – already has a packed schedule.
Not only does she front her own Hits Radio show, she also gave birth to their child Mia last July.
Earlier this month, Gemma shared an emotional post on Mia’s first birthday as she thanked the tot for letting her be her mum.
She shared an array of images taken throughout Mia’s first 12 months, ranging from her first snaps in the maternity ward to her playing inside their home gym.
On her stories page, the Hits Radio UK DJ showed a clip of Gorka busy wrapping gifts in pink paper as she admitted the pair had had an “emotional meltdown” over Mia turning one.
In a later video, in her candidly blunt style, Gemma explained just why and wrote: “I think I’m so emotional because of how Mia was born.
“There was a brief moment in labour that I didn’t think she’d be here at all never mind have the most wonderful year!
“That and my period must be due because I never cry,” followed by a face-palm Emoji.
She then added: “Right I’m off to eat three white chocolate Magnums!”
Alongside her cute image montage, she added the words: “Feliz cumpleaños Mia! Your very first Birthday!!!!
“Thank you for choosing me to be your mum. You’re my everything. Making us so proud and keeping us laughing daily (even on little sleep).
“Me and papa love you 
Enjoy your special day!”
