HOLLYOAKS’ Edward Hutchinson “has all the tools” to kill his son Tony, actor Joe McGann has revealed.

Joe’s character, evil surgeon Edward, is so desperate to steal Tony’s wife Diane back that he is not stopping at anything.

Could Hollyoaks’ Edward turn into a killer?

Last week, Edward was seen confessing to his daughter Verity – played by actress Eva O’Hara – that he had convinced Tony he was suffering from a brain tumour.

Edward felt sure he could trust his daughter not to spill the beans, however things could be set to unravel.

In tonight’s first-look E4 episode of Hollyoaks (May 18), Tony’s half-sister threatens to send sparks flying by telling all.

Given his confident nature, Edward had felt sure that Verity will keep her mouth shut – but could he be wrong?

Tonight Verity threatens to spill all about Tony’s so-called brain tumour

After learning her half brother has endued unnecessary surgery, it now appears Verity could be set to blow Edward’s cover.

In an interview with Digital Spy, Joe – who plays Edward – said Verity may therefore be the key to his character’s eventual downfall.

Joe said: “It could be Verity, it could be Tony, or it could be the situations that Edward puts himself in.

“But Edward’s confidence is so high. He believes in his own abilities. Some of his scheming is not planned. Some of it he comes up with very quickly and then he lives with the consequences.”

The actor then went on to admit that, although not Edward’s aim right now, he could kill off Tony – played by Hollyoaks stalwart Nick Pickard – eventually.

Joe added: “Something would have to downturn in Edward’s life before he became a killer, but he’s got all the tools at his disposal, being at the hospital.”

Last week, fans watched in horror as Edward performed surgery on Tony despite there being nothing wrong with him.

After the surgery, Tony was seen feeling groggy and talking to Diane from his hospital bed. Edward then told the couple that the surgery went well.

Speaking about the storyline actor Nick Pickard, who plays Tony, recently told Metro: “I think he’d be mortified. What’s he’s doing to him, and what he’s done to him already.

“To find out that your own father is pretty much trying to off you, it’s horrible.

“I don’t think I could ever forgive anyone for sleeping with my wife, let alone by father! I don’t think I could ever forgive him for pretending I had a brain tumour, but you never know!”
