CATHERINE Tyldesley has been doing wonders on the dancefloor, as she takes part in the latest series of Strictly Come Dancing on BBC One.

The former Coronation Street actress lost a staggering five stone since hitting the gym.

Catherine has gone from a size 22 to a 10 and reflected on her huge transformation on Instagram.

In a lengthy post, she penned: “I want to share my little story – Its been such a journey!

“This year I decided to challenge myself (I love to set goals) and do a 12 week Transformation with @up_north_pt … it has been one of the most incredible experiences of my life.

“The knowledge I have gained for myself and my family is priceless. Yes it was hard, yes I had days when I wanted to throw in the towel… but I didnt – and for that I am super proud of myself.

“Being a working mum is not easy – its incredibly difficult at times – balance doesnt exist. You just manage best you can.”

Why is Catherine Tyldesley famous?

Catherine, 35, is an English actress from Salford who previously played the role of Abi Peterson in Emmerdale in 2010.

In 2007 she starred as Iris Moss in the BBC drama Lilies.

The actress other television credits include Shameless, Holby City, Trollied and Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps.

In 2018 she also appeared on the chat show Loose Women as a guest panellist for one episode.

However, Catherine is most famous for playing the role of Eva Price in Coronation Street from May 2011 to July 2018.

Is Catherine Tyldesley a singer too?

Catherine sings in the range of mezzo-soprano and signed a record deal in June 2016.

She released her debut single, Rise, in August 2016 and announced her plans to release an album later in the year.

The actress was unable to achieve chart success with the single and the Official Charts Company confirmed that the single missed the Top 200.

Catherine has admitted she plans to record a duet with her co-star Shayne Ward in the near future.

Speaking about joining the dancing show she said: “I am so excited.

“I love to dance on a night out if I have had a couple of drinks, but I can’t actually dance.

“I think choreography is what I am going to struggle with. I am terrified. When I was at theatre school I always swerved dance classes because I was so big. It will be like therapy!”
