I’M A CELEBRITY has been home to a string of famous faces over the last 20 years – but can you remember them all?
Since the popular ITV show first hit our screens in 2002, there have been 21 winners which include the likes of Loose Women’s Stacey Solomon, ex-EastEnders actress Charlie Brooks and soap star Jacqueline Jossa.
But ITV viewers may have erased these contestants from their memory – but we take a look back at some of the old names from the show’s past that have been forgotten.
Chris Bisson – Series Two
Actor Chris Bisson appeared in series two of the jungle show back in 2003 and was eliminated second.
The star shot to fame in Prime Suspect, Holby City and as Vikram Desai in Coronation Street.
He then appeared as Saleem Khan in the 1999 film East Is East and Kash Karib in Shameless.
The 46-year-old is no best known for his role as Jai Sharma on Emmerdale, but when the cameras stop rolling, he leads a much less dramatic life with fiancé Rowena Finn and their two children.
Chris made his first steps in the eponymous village in 2009, making his first on-screen appearance on September 11, although he temporarily left the show in 2013 after becoming a father.
The actor also revealed that two years ago that he had undergone a hair transplant to keep his good looks.
According to the 46-year-old actor, the hair transplant also helped him save his career.
Chris said: “As soon as you start losing your hair you’re immediately cast older, so it does reduce the amount of parts you can play.”
“If you are 40 and bald you probably get cast as being 45 or 50. It can affect your career.”
John Fashanu – Series Two
TV presenter and former professional footballer John Fashanu appeared in series two.
He made it to the final and came second in the second against cricketer Phil Tufnell.
Later that year he presented Fash’s Football Challenge, a reality television show that followed Fashanu managing an amateur football team.
Also in 2003, he fronted a six-part series for ITV1 based on the American format Man vs. Beast, however following protests from animal rights groups, the series was never broadcast.
He also released a video “Focus on Fitness with Fash and became host of Deal or No Deal Nigeria.
In 2020, John launched a bid to bring back Gladiators.
The former Wimbledon footballer believed a new generation of fitness-obsessed youngsters would lap up a modern day version of the sports-based game show with a whole new set of Gladiators.
In an exclusive chat, he said: “The health and well-being market is played out all over Instagram, with fit men and women pushing us to believe in ourselves and be kind to our minds and bodies.
“So there is the next generation of Gladiators right there ready to inspire us — and a new audience ready to absorb it.
“I think it would be a hit — TV bosses are missing a trick.”
The series ran from 1992 to 2000 on ITV before briefly returning on Sky One in 2008 for two years.
Fash had two spells hosting the series with Ulrika, with England rugby star Jeremy Guscott replacing him briefly for two series in 1997.
Catalina Guirado – Series Two
Actress and model Catalina Guirado entered the camp in April 2003 and came 7th place.
Following her appearance, Catalina was featured on many talk shows including This Morning and appeared as a guest on comedy sketch show Bo’ Selecta!.
Catalina also took part in the Stars in Their Eyes I’m A Celebrity special, where she chose singer Deborah Harry.
She married i-94 band member Matt Cheadle in August 2007.
Catalina also has her own fashion and lifestyle blog, Cat-Talk and is also an experienced horse-rider.
Nell McAndrew – Series 1
Glamour model Nell McAndrew has cut a low profile since her lads’ mag heyday in the late 1990s.
She appeared on the first series of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here, coming fourth.
Nell first appeared on TV as a hostess on the game show Man O Man.
She has presented Racing Rivals, Born to Fight, It’s a Knockout and The Big Breakfast.
Nell started work as a Marilyn Monroe lookalike and was forced to shave her head for an assignment in Germany.
She was sacked from her role as Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider video game after posing as the character on the front page of Playboy.
She is a good marathon runner with her time of 3 hours 10 minutes and 51 seconds in 2005 fast enough to qualify for the women’s elite race.
Nell McAndrew is married to property developer Paul Hardcastle.
The pair tied the knot in November 2004 in Huddersfield, West Yorks, and had a second ceremony in December 2004 in Dubai.
The have a son, Devon, and daughter, Anya.
Diane Modahl – Series Three
Diane Modahl is a former middle distance runner who specialised in the 800 metres.
She took part in the jungle show in 2004 and was eliminated second.
She is married to Vicente Modahl, a Norwegian international athletics coach and they have three children.
Modahl described her husband as “the rock in my life” during the turbulent years, and praised him with spearheading her appeal, saying, “Vicente went head on, too stubborn, driven and angry to give in to anyone. Without him I would never have been cleared of the injustice done to me.
She is also a cousin of Chris Eubank.
