CORRIE villain Lydia Chambers hasn’t had the best luck at love while in the cobbles.

However, Coronation Street actress Rebecca Ryan couldn’t be happier as she’s engaged to a successful pilot. Here’s what you need to know.

Rebecca Ryan made her first appearance in the cobbles in 2021 – and since became a hated villain
Off-screen, she is in a happy relationship with pilot Dan Acraman

The pair have been engaged since 2018

Making her first appearance in Weatherfield in December, 2021, Lydia Chambers was first introduced as a potential new friend for stalwart Sarah Platt (played by Tina O’Brien).

But when her tumultuous past with Sarah’s husband Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) was eventually revealed, things took a turn and escalated into a harrowing stalker situation for the solicitor.

Before then, Lydia tried to build a romantic relationship with Weatherfield High teacher Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) – who also happens to be Adam’s uncle.

This was until Rovers barmaid Daisy Midgeley swept in to steal him away from her.

BY GEORGE!

Inside Corrie’s George actor’s life from rival soap role to Harry Potter stardom

Lydia left Corrie in recent episodes of the long-running soap, as single as can be.

Thankfully for her, actress Rebecca Ryan is luckier than her on-screen alter ego and has been sharing the life of Dan Acraman for several years.

Unlike his other half, Dan is not accustomed to the spotlight but he is used to A320 cockpits as he’s a successful pilot for airline company British Airways, after working for rival EasyJet.

According to his LinkedIn profile, the Prestwich native is even a captain.

While the circumstances of their first meeting remain a mystery, Dan is known to have asked for Rebecca’s hand during the summer of 2018 and the couple have since been eager to tie the knot.

Rebecca has shown off her jaw-dropping engagement ring on her Instagram account as soon as the jewel was slipped onto her finger.

Sadly, and as was the case for many other couples throughout the world, the COVID pandemic severely halted their plans.

As of March, 2022, Rebecca and Dan are hoping to finally walk down the aisle after being engaged for less than four years.

“2nd time trying to plan my wedding”, the soap star wrote on Instagram, “the first one was cancelled due to COVID so we are back to square 1!”

Rebecca then quipped: “No date, no venue and still wanting to get married this year. I wish I was an organised person.”

During a recent appearance in talk show Lorraine, Rebecca admitted she was supposed to get married “two years ago.”

“Yes, we were supposed to get married two years ago, but covid hit, so we’re back to square one now really – looking for a venue because we couldn’t change the date”, she said.

“I’m hoping – we’re hoping to still get married this year, but we haven’t planned anything so I need to see how it goes and get on it really.”

And her recent exit from Corrie may help her see clearly in her wedding plans.
