Helen Worth addressed rumours her character Gail would be leaving Corrie on This Morning

Corrie fans know that Gail is growing increasingly worried about her son David as he seeks out dangerous thrills to distract him from his broken marriage.

David’s wife Shona was recently left with brain damage during the catastrophic Christmas shooting, leaving her unsure of David’s identity.

David was then heartbroken when Shona’s son Clayton poisoned her against him and got her to demand a divorce.

Appearing on This Morning today, Helen was asked whether David’s storyline might mean the end of the road for her character Gail: “One thing, I think you do know, and there was a lot of speculation that that was it, David would go.”

Phil added: “You and he are certainly for the foreseeable future, absolutely tied to Corrie?”

Helen replied: “Well I hope I’m not going anywhere, I’ve not heard anything.”

“No one has told me anything.”

What has Helen Worth said about David’s storyline in Corrie?

When asked by Holly if she could shed any light on David’s future with Shona, Helen said: “I mean, I can’t tell you because of lockdown.

“I haven’t got any scripts.

“I have absolutely no idea about what’s going on. I can’t tell you, I can’t give anything away, which is lovely safety.

“I can’t give anything away because I actually don’t know.”

Official spoilers have revealed that next week’s episodes of Corrie will see Shona visit Gail and Sarah – but refuse to see David.

The Platts are worried when Shona doesn’t seem to recognise Harry at all, but encouraged when she instinctively knows where the tea bags are.

As Gail and Sarah discuss Shona’s progress with her key worker, Shona wanders outside into the garden and disappears.

What has Helen Worth said about Coronation Street returning to filming?

Helen added that actors will be back on set in June and that producers have made sure filming will be safe amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

She said: “We are going back in a few weeks. It’s all been organised by ITV and everything will be safe for us to go back.

“We are starting to film again, we could even get back up to six episodes a week.”

She added that the soap will feature a coronavirus plot: “There will be some reference to COVID-19 (in storylines) but I’m not sure how much.”

The soap halted filming on March 23 after the UK went into lockdown and slashed its weekly episodes down to three.

Airing at its current rate, the show would come to an end at the beginning of July if production isn’t resumed.
