JACK P Shepherd says he would quit Coronation Street if bosses stopped giving him juicy storylines.

The 32-year-old actor – who plays David Platt – hasn’t been short of hard-hitting plots in his 20-year career on the cobbles.

The actor who plays David Platt has been in the soap for 20 years

But he insists he would walk if a better opportunity came along.

He told the Daily Star: “If something came up that was too good an opportunity to turn down, or if they stopped writing good stories for me, then I probably would leave.

“But at the minute they like having me there and I like being there.”

Jack’s character was drugged and raped by his friend Josh Tucker in a shocking storyline last year.

Jack P Shepherd joined when he was just 12 years old in 2000

He also survived being murdered by his serial killer step-dad, spent time in jail and seen his wife Shona shot and forget she ever married him.

Celebrating his two decades in the soap, Jack shared his first ever scene when he was just 12 years old.

He joined in April 2000 as the son of Martin, played by Sean Wilson, and Helen Worth’s Gail Platt and is seen answering his dad’s phone.

He has worked on many powerful storylines throughout the years

In a line that couldn’t come from any other show but Corrie, David says: “Hello… hello. Can I have an Eccles cake, mum?”

And when asked who’s on the line, he replies: “Some woman.”

While his co-stars are off work amid the coronavirus pandemic, the actor has been entertaining himself at home by making hilarious videos.

This week he danced in a pair of tight white pants to recreate Tom Cruise’s iconic scene from Risky Business.

Sliding around his Manchester home wearing only a shirt, socks and eye-catching underwear, Jack showed off his moves to Old Time Rock and Roll by Bob Seger – just like in the film.
