CORONATION Street star Jennie McAlpine has undergone a stunning soap star transformation during her time on the cobbles.

Joining the soap in 2001 in the role of Fiz Stape, Jennie was better known as ‘frizzy Fiz’.

Loveable, but a bit dowdy and once referred to as “a loo roll holder” by her crass mother Cilla, Fiz fell for mild-mannered teacher John Stape and married him in 2009.

Their marriage took a disastrous turn, however, when John murdered Joy Fishwick and Charlotte Hoyle, kidnapped Rosie Webster and framed Fiz for his killings.

Fiz then shacked up with mechanic Tyrone in 2013 after supporting him through his abuse ordeal at the hands of Kirsty Soames.

Her new relationship saw Fiz come into herself – embracing her kookiness and her frumpy pyjama sets.

But while Fiz’s fashion choices have always delighted fans, in more recent years the bubbly actress has started to show off more of a glam side off-screen.

In fact, during her appearance on 2017’s I’m A Celebrity, Jennie looked better than ever.

Scarlett Moffatt backed the bubbly actress to take the jungle crown, but in the end she finished fourth.

Speaking about the show’s brand new location for its 2020 series, Jennie admitted she would have fared better in the Welsh castle.

“[Wales] would have been ideal for me… because I’m a red head so it was a real worry going to Australia,” she admitted.

“That was one of my biggest fears, that it’s going to be too hot.”

She continued: “Everyone else was thinking, ‘Bikini, sunbathing’ and I was dreading it, but actually on our year, it chucked it down all the time. Everyone else was gutted but I was secretly pleased. So Wales would suit me perfectly.”

In July 2021, Jennie shared her weight loss tips and revealed how she dropped three dress sizes with ‘common sense’.

Speaking to OK!, she said: “I don’t go in for all the diet plans and worrying yourself silly over how much you weigh.

“If you eat more of the good stuff and take more exercise then you’ll lose weight.”

However, Jennie went on to say that she refuses to bow to the pressure to stay in shape in the entertainment industry.

“It’s really not worth beating yourself up over it,” she added.

Away from the cameras, Jennie married restauranteur Chris Farr in 2017.

The couple are now parents to daughter Hilda and son Albert, and own a cafe called Annie’s in the heart of Manchester town centre.
