STRICTLY star Maisie Smith was bitten on the face by a giant seagull who swooped out of the sky and attacked her for her fish-finger sandwich.

The 19-year-old EastEnders actress, who is taking part in this year’s series of the BBC dance show, made the startling announcement on Instagram.

Maisie Smith posted this shot from the day she was bitten by a seagull

She posted a picture of herself beside some boats on the beach in the coastal resort of Lowestoft, Suffolk.

Maisie wrote: “This was the day a giant seagull bit my face tryna eat my fish finger bap.”

Her followers responded with a mixture of shock and amusement with Ruby Allen co-star Louisa Lytton writing simply: “🤩.”

The star, who plays Tiffany Butcher in EastEnders, was yesterday pictured on a bus tour of Southend, Essex.

With no Blackpool on the cards Strictly star Maisie can avoid the seaside

She told her stunned Instagram followers what had happened

However, the popular actress – who is already the favourite to pick up the Glitterball trophy among bookies – will doubtless be glad there is no seaside stop on this year’s Strictly.

Bosses ruled out the usual trip to Blackpool for the first time ever this series because of coronavirus restrictions.

Many people in seaside towns have grown used to the menace of seagulls.

Tourists often report being targeted by the birds while carrying chips, with one woman filmed being set upon by several of them in Brighton last month.
