SEAN Ward has gone from Corrie’s cobbles to the literal streets because of his anti-vaxx views.

But which character was the British actor picked to portray on the ITV soap?

Sean Ward had a brief stint in Coronation Street

Who did Sean Ward play in Coronation Street?

Hailing from Manchester, Sean began his acting career at the age of 12, after persuading his mother to take him to an audition for a film titled Cheeky, held at Manchester Airport.

He followed this up with an appearance in the series Island at war before becoming a full-time actor in 2007.

Prior to appearing on Corrie, Sean’s TV credits included brief roles in other popular shows in the likes of The Bill, The Royal, Accused, Doctors and Casualty.

Sean also appeared in the film Awaydays as he slipped in Robbie’s shoes in 2009 and in military drama Our Girl.

But soon, the roles dried up, which led him to work as an estate agent, a dry-stone waller and even a waiter.

With a new agent at his side, he was cast as criminal drug dealer Callum Logan on Coronation Street and first appeared in Weatherfield on October 3, 2014.

His storylines involved a relationship Kylie Platt (Paula Lane) as he used their son Max to wage a war against the latter’s family.

When did Sean Ward leave Coronation Street?

Sean’s stint as the Weatherfield villain was short-lived.

After less than a year of mayhem, Callum met his demise on September 23, 2015.

His reign of terror ended when Kylie killed him with the blow of a wrench to the head as he was about to rape Sarah (Tina O’Brien).

The latter posed as Kylie and attempted to record Callum as he spoke of his misdeeds.

Callum quickly clocked on to the ruse planned to force himself on her inside No.8.

Prior to his death, Sarah became pregnant by Callum and she gave birth to their son Harry on March 21, 2016.

Sean’s final episode was aired live to celebrate ITV’s 60th anniversary.

His stint as Callum led to him being nominated for The British Soap Award for Villain of the Year and The British Soap Award for Best Newcomer.

Where is Sean Ward now?

But since his departure from the cobbles, Sean has gone through a severe fall from grace.

In a recent post shared on his Instagram account, the actor wrote about how his life has disintegrated after he became a vociferous anti-vaxxer, stating that his acting career was over.

Sean was even arrested during a protest in London in 2021.

Penning a long note to his followers, Sean wrote that roles stopped being suggested to him after he shared his views, becoming homeless as a result.

“Firstly the work dried up”, Sean wrote. “No one would hire me whether in front of or behind the camera, all my usual ways of making money just stopped, eventually I couldn’t afford the rent.”

“So I gave up my 4 bed house and moved onto my friend’s couch. I had to put all my belongings into storage.”

Things went from bad to worse for the former Coronation Street actor.

“After a while I couldn’t afford to pay the storage bill and after about 4 weeks of missing the payments – equating to about £500 – Safe store UK sold all belongings.”

“My sofa, my bed frame, my office equipment, desk, chair, wardrobes, mirrors, all my coats and clothes and my projector.”

“Everything to fill a family house. My whole life was in that storage unit. I lost it all.”

“I was devastated but I couldn’t ask anyone for help because it was my choice to speak out.”

Sean added: “Luckily I got my mattress out in time and I’ve been sleeping on that in a friend’s spare room for over a year now.”

“He has given me a safe space when I really needed it. I haven’t paid any rent to this man and it makes me extremely tearful when I think how amazing that really is.”

Sean added that he couldn’t afford to run his Honda Civic motor and the vehicle has been seized by the DVLA for having no tax.

“Was it all worth it? Yes! If I’ve saved one life then yes”, Sean went on.

According to Sean, the BBC has commissioned a documentary about him, claiming that his sister had refused to take part in the show despite being approached by the broadcaster.
