GAMERS tucking into the latest Call of Duty face a firestorm of bullets, grenades and airstrikes from the outset but their deadliest foe is the game’s plantlife.

Furious players report that a bush in one of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s multiplayer maps kills them instantly the moment they touch it.

The ‘bush of death’ has been massacring players who stray into its deadly leaves since Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s launch

Dubbed the “bush of death“, the sinister shrub part of the game’s inanimate scenery has been killing off players since the shooter’s launch last October.

CoD-makers Activision say they’re developing a fix for the bug, but have yet to announce when an update will be released.

With a lack of answers from above, gamers have taken to social media to vent their frustrations.

On Reddit, one users posted a video of the glitch, writing: “I ran at it a few times and it bested me every time.”

Several other users reported experiencing the same bug, which suddenly kills players whenever they enter the bush’s fatal foliage.

One Reddit fan responded: “I did that yesterday and was wondering how I died. It showed the headshot icon in the kill feed.”

Other Reddit users saw the funny side of the bizarre bug.

One quipped: “Thats some strong stuff, you should harvest it.”

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare launched last year

Another joked: “It’s poison ivy.”

The bush is found on the multiplayer map Port of Verdansk.

It’s one of the game’s biggest maps, designed for hosting 64 players in the Ground War game mode.

Players have uncovered a number of bugs on Port of Verdansk, including one widely reported issue that allows players to drop underneath the map and shoot at enemies from below.

The sheer volume of glitches on the map is likely a result of its size.

The larger a map is, the more likely problems are to be missed by playtesters prior to a game’s release.

The bush of death is one of several Call of Duty glitches named on Activision’s “to-fix” list on Trelloboard.

It’s marked as “fixed in a future update” by the game’s developers, though they do not provide a date for said update.

Earlier this month, Joe Cecot, co-design director of multiplayer at Infinity Ward, promised Modern Warfare fans that a large volume of the game’s glitches would be fixed in a January update.

He wrote on Twitter : [The patch] should launch in January. Dont have an exact date.”

He continued: “Our next big update should have all of the fixes. We start pushing this update through this week. I dont have the exact date. Sorry.

Activision did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
