CALL of Duty has introduced a new ‘Solos’ mode to its hit new Call of Duty Warzone game.

It means that you can now play Fortnite-style Warzone on your own – instead of being placed inside a three-person squad.

Warzone’s Solos mode pits you against 149 other players

Warzone itself is a new addition to Call of Duty’s latest game Modern Warfare.

It’s a Battle Royale game that is free for anyone to download – even if you haven’t bought the main game.

The game launched last week with squad-only gameplay, but the new Solos mode means you can go it alone.

“Solos is an option for players who are true mercenaries and only want to carry themselves across Verdansk,” said Call of Duty creator Activision.

“Only lone wolves need apply; Solo games are the quintessential experience for the player who want the ultimate challenge – all or nothing.”

In the new mode, you drop into the massive Verdansk map alone, armed with a pistol and a few bullets.

As you loot and complete Contracts while surviving the threat of 149 other players, a collapsing circle will roll in – just like in normal Battle Royale.

And The Gulag – a second-chance game mode you can win to return to the Warzone – is still available in Solos.

But if you lose the 1v1 Gulag gunfight then you’re out for good.

Warzone’s Solos mode is available as a free update to the main game.

It will also be available with the standard Warzone installation for players who haven’t bought Call of Duty Modern Warfare.

There are still two other  Warzone modes available: Traditional Battle Royale and a Plunder mode.

Battle Royale games take on roughly the same rules as Fortnite, with 150 players dropping into a huge map where they fight to be the last man standing.

As the match goes on, gamers are gradually eliminated and the map gets smaller via an ever-tightening circle of poisonous gas that you must dodge to survive.

Fortnite’s own Battle Royale mode helped make the game a huge success and it seems Activision, the studio behind Modern Warfare, is following suit.

The other mode, Plunder, has players collect as much cash as they can by looting items and stealing enemies’ money across the all-new map.

There is only one Warzone map, though it looks more than big enough to keep players entertained for hours.

According to Activision, the map has 300 different point of interest, ranging from dense city blocks to more open, rural areas.

It’s sprinkled with elements from “classic” maps from previous Modern Warfare games, such as Broadcast, Terminal, Overgrown and Scrapyard.
