GRAND Theft Auto fans may finally get some info on the franchise’s upcoming game next week.

Take-Two Interactive, the company that owns GTA-maker Rockstar Games, is holding a key call with investors on February 6 where it could share some news about the future of the franchise.

We’re yet to hear any news on GTA 6, though it’s safe to assume the game is in the works

Grand Theft Auto 6 is the rumoured followup to GTA V, which has sold more than 110million copies and made an estimated 5billion since its 2013 release.

Rockstar has yet to acknowledge it’s making another GTA game, but it’s safe to assume one is in the works.

Previous leaks and rumours have suggested the game will launch with the new generation of Xbox and PlayStation consoles later this year.

The PS5 and Xbox Series X are both out in the run up to Christmas 2020. We’re awaiting specific release dates from Sony and Microsoft.

Grand Theft Auto 5 has sold more than 90million copies since it hit shelves in 2013

Take-Two Interactive is holding a conference call next Thursday to discuss its Fiscal Third Quarter 2020 Results.

During these calls, the company typically discusses future content and releases, such as online updates to cowboy shooter Red Dead Redemption 2.

This report will likely include an update on GTA V and GTA Online for PS4, Xbox One, and PC as well.

In all probability, the call will focus on the success of these two titles.

However, it’s possible Take-Two will also discuss plans for GTA 6.

A message on the company website says: “Take-Two Interactive today announced that it plans to report financial results for the third quarter of its fiscal year 2020, ended December 31, 2019, after the market close on Thursday, February 6, 2020.”

According to their 2019 report, “Grand Theft Auto V has sold-in almost 110 million units, cementing further its standing as the ‘must-have’ title of the current console generation. Rockstar Games flagship titles continue to drive exceptional engagement and results.

“Importantly, fiscal 2020 will be a year of significant investment in R&D that should enable us to scale further our long-term release slate.”

Rockstar has spent the past year focussed on major online updates for the new Red Dead, which came out in October 2018.

However, with no new releases on the horizon, it’s possible CEO Strauss Zelnick will give some hints as to a new GTA.

That being said, Zelnick typically holds his lips firmly sealed on all things GTA.

When asked about the next GTA during a Take-Two Interactive fiscal report in 2009, he snarled: “We’re not going to announce it. We’re not going to announce when we’re going to announce it. And we’re not going to announce the strategy about announcing it or about when we’re going to announce it either, or about the announcement strategy surrounding the announcement of the strategy. Any other questions?”

It seems unlikely that we’ll see GTA 6 released this year, as Rockstar has yet to announce it’s existence yet.

A more feasible timescale is that we’ll get an announcement this year followed by a release in late 2021.

The latest GTA 6 rumour is one of many to emerge about Rockstar’s new game.

Players will apparently take the role of a drug lord in the series’ latest instalment, which takes place in three locations from previous games.

It’s also been claimed that gamers will take the role of two characters, one female and one male.

All speculation for now, of course here’s hoping Rockstar gives us something concrete over the next few months.

In other news, GTA 6 could launch alongside the PS5 when the console hits shelves this year, according to a mystery Rockstar Games insider.

A Grand Theft Auto cheater was recently ordered to pay 115,000 after being sued by the game’s designers.
