FORTNITE players are preparing for a major event later today called The Device.

The event is shrouded in mystery, but it definitely means big things for the future of the game – and its gameplay.

What is The Device Fortnite event?

Epic Games is hosting a major event called The Device inside Fortnite.

Details are still light, but we’re expecting something major to happen to the game – and possibly the iconic Fortnite map, too.

A number of hatches have opened up around Fortnite, and there’s a mysterious “doomsday” device being built in Midas’ hideout.

Some theories online suggest the map could be flooded.

This outfit promises to protect you against the Storm

One Fortnite promo pic came with the caption: “The clock is ticking, his plan is in place, can the Storm be Broken? We’ll see in two days.”

For the unaware, the Storm is the deadly ring that closes in on players during multiplayer matches – drawing opponents together to prevent games from lasting forever.

It’s not clear if the Storm will disappear, or be replaced by something else.

Epic Games has previously used events to make changes to the Fortnite event, which could also happen this time around.

When is The Device Fornite event? Start time and new date

Fortnite’s The Device event is due to take place on June 15.

This will shortly be followed by the launch of Season 3 on June 17.

The event was actually delayed due to the global protests in early June

“We believe in equality and justice, diversity and inclusion, and that these fundamentals are above politics,” Epic Games wrote.

“The team is eager to move Fortnite forward, but we need to balance the Season 3 launch with time for the team to focus on themselves, their families, and their communities.

“The live event The Device will be delayed to Monday, June 15, and the Season 3 launch delayed to Wednesday, June 17.”

Epic Games is kicking off the event at 11am LA time, 2pm New York time, and 7pm London time.

How to watch The Device Fortnite event – when to log in and join the live show

The event will take place on all platforms.

That includes Xbox One, PS4, PC, Nintendo Switch, and your iPhone and Android devices.

Epic Games says you should log in around 30 minutes before the event begins, to avoid missing the action.

That’s because Fortnite events often result in huge server queues, as vast numbers of players log in at the same time.

All you need to do is join a match beforehand, and wait for the fun to start.
