DENISE Van Outen says being on The Masked Singer made her feel like a secret agent as she kept her identity hidden.

The actress, 45, was unveiled as the fox on Saturday night’s instalment of the popular contest after claiming it wasn’t her.

Denise didn’t tell any of her family that she was on the show

She picked her costume because it meant it would be easier for her to move around onstage while performing.

Denise said: “I loved it. It made me feel like a secret spy.”

Until the reveal at this weekend not a single person knew she had been dancing around on the BBC every Saturday night.

Her finance Eddie Boxshall was under the impression she was rehearsing for something else and didn’t notice the carrier-bag hiding her disguise to go to and from filming in the back of their wardrobe.

The Strictly Come Dancing star said: “I was able to get away with being on the show because I could watch on a Saturday night with everyone.

“I kept it completely to myself, I told Eddie that I was rehearsing for another show that I am doing later this year. He never really questioned it.

“He’d just ask me “how was rehearsal” unaware I’d done a big studio show. I’d be in bed smiling to myself about it all.”

Denise is relieved now the secret is out and that she can stop pretending to know nothing about it.

She claims it was like being a “a secret spy” and is thrilled her daughter, Betsy, was surprised with the unmasking.

The mum-of-one added: “She was completely surprised and couldn’t wait to get to school to see her friends.

“She kept saying ‘Mummy’s the fox. I can’t believe it.’

“It’s nice that I was able to sit down with her and watch it.”

While she was hailed for her performance, the singer claimed the costume could be restrictive at times.

She said:”It was very heavy. It took two people to get me into it and because it was all mirrored Id have to stand for about half an hour to be polished and shined.

But the show wasn’t without it’s nail biting moments for the actress who worried she might tumble off-stage during one of her performances.

When asked about her least favourite routine she said: “I think firework because it was a hard song to sing live and move because my costume was so heavy and I was trying to move round stage but you have bad viability.

“I was worried I would lose my footing and fall off the stage. That was probably the scariest one.”

Viewers haven’t seen the last of Denise even though she has been voted off the show.

When not filming the greatest dancer she has been recording her debut album and is currently debating which record label will produce it for her.

She added: “It’s not quiet finished because were we’ve had to keep it secret with me on the show we’ve been limited as to who we can talk to about it.

“It’s Michael Buble-esk. It’s been really fun to work on. I’ve never done anything like this before.

“I’m having a meeting this week to work it out. We’ve got to work out which label to go with us we’ve had a couple of offers.”
