THE Masked Singer last night revealed American singer Kelis as the secret celebrity who has been performing as Daisy.

Viewers were left reeling that the ITV show had managed to persuade the music millionaire star of hits including Milkshake to perform as a singing flower for several weeks.

Kelis was revealed as the celebrity behind Daisy on The Masked Singer

One boggled: ERM, WHAT IS KELIS DOING ON THE MASKED SINGER UK?”

Another wanted to know: “What tale did Kelis people tell her to get her to do this?”

Others applauded ITV’s booking team, writing: “Hats off. When I heard they were making it I assumed we’d be getting a Cheeky Girl and some fella from Ex On The Beach… But the *actual* Kelis?”

The panel were divided on the star’s identity, with Jonathan Ross thinking she was Fleur East, Davina McCall saying it was Nena Cherry and Rita Ora correctly guessing it was Kelis.

The 29-year-old singer said: “I think it’s my soul sister from another mister, Kelis” – and was thrilled when she turned out to be right.

Jonathan Ross wasn’t quite as close, as one of his early guesses was Natalie Cole, who has been dead since 2015.

Regardless, she still got a mention in the pre-recorded show, with her face appearing on screen in a graphic.

As always there were several clues to unpick – most of which pointed directly to Daisy being Kelis.

Her clue package was set in an American diner – just like the music video for her hit song Milkshake.

There were also several references to food, a hint to 40-year-old Kelis’ skills as a cordon bleu chef.

Others stars in The Masked Singer’s first UK series have included EastEnders actress Patsy Palmer, former Home Secretary Alan Johnson, The Darkness singer Justin Hawkins and football hero Teddy Sheringham.
