SUE Perkins has shocked viewers with a cheeky comment about “going for sausage” as she spoke about her time on The Masked Singer.

The 51-year-old, who was voted out of the ITV show on the weekend, appeared on Lorraine to talk about the “liberating” experience.

TV presenter Sue, who was known as Dragon throughout the competition, wowed viewers with her rendition of Adele’s classic hit Make You Feel My Love on Saturday.

Equally shocked were the judges – singer Rita Ora, comedians Mo Gilligan and Matt Lucas and TV presenters Jonathan Ross and Davina McCall – who were unable to guess her identity.

Revealing their “surprise” at Sue’s beautiful singing voice, the former Great British Bake Off host told the panel she felt “liberated” singing behind the mask.

Discussing her successful stint on the show, Sue joined ITV breakfast host Lorraine Kelly live to talk about the remaining characters ahead of this week’s final.

The English comedian had viewers in stitches as she discussed her favourite to win the series – placing her alliances clearly with Sausage.

“I’m going for Sausage,” Sue said, before bursting into laughter and turning red, adding: “That’s a headline, isn’t it?”

“That’s not to be expected from you,” Lorraine joked back to the openly lesbian star, struggling to contain her laughter. “That’ll get them all going.”

Going along with the jibe, Sue responded: “I like to break these things on your show, Lorraine. There you go. It writes itself.”

Just about containing their laughter, the pair went on to discuss Sue’s reaction to being told her character would be Dragon.

“You get a rough drawing of some of the characters and you get to pick, and immediately I wanted to go for Dragon,” the star explained.

“I wanted to create a character that kids really loved and that adults couldn’t quite figure out and I hope that I achieved that.”

Despite working in the same studios and performing on the show together, Sue told Lorraine she didn’t know the identities of the remaining stars.

The star said she hoped to create a friendly character in Dragon

“I’ve waved at Sausage, done a little dance with Badger and jostled in a corridor with Robin, but I’ve got absolutely no idea,” she said.

The star explained that on set, only a small number of people know the true identities of the stars, who have to wear black-out face shields at all times.

“You turn up like this,” Sue demonstrated live using the silver visor. “And you have a balaclava so nobody can see your hair – because I’ve got a trademark mess of hair.

“You have a t-shirt on that says ‘Don’t speak to me’ and you only ever see a handful of people. Nobody knows who you are.”

“I have no idea who else is in the show,” she added as Lorraine enquired about her fellow celebrities. “I’ve never met them. I’ve got no idea.”

Sue was voted out of the show last week alongside British singer Gabrielle, who performed as Harlequin.

Guesses to the TV presenter’s identity included Ricki Lake, Whoopi Goldberg, Michelle Visage, and two guesses for Jennifer Saunders.

Viewers at home were also convinced it was drag queen Courtney Act performing – taking to social media with evidence to back their beliefs.

Sue revealed she did the show to try and break her stage fright for performing and dubbed the show “liberating and brilliant.”

She said: “I am terrified of performing any kind of music or performing in public. Everyone should unleash their inner dragon.”

Viewers were shocked at the reveal with no-one knowing the comedian could sing as she did.

Many flooded Twitter following the result to praise Sue for her performance, with some joking the star should release an album.
