Will Young took part in Pop Idol in 2002

The previous clip made reference to his “late start” in his career as he starred in the singing competition when he was 23, he was called “cheesy” after one of his performances and it also made reference to a spat he had with judge Simon Cowell on the show.

On Saturday night’s instalment a song that Will performed back in 2002 started playing when Lionfish went off stage.

One fan pointed out on Twitter: “Beyond the sea playing as Lionfish goes off has to be a clue too! Will Young sang Beyond the sea on Pop Idol!”

Tonight they also made reference to being a feminist.

Another said on the social media platform: “Lionfish is Will Young surely? He studied women’s studies and is a feminist?”

“Strong females… will young did an album of covers of womens song. Definitely him,” a third said.

To further add to the theory, Lionfish confessed that they “know how to make a very good pointe” and their “fins hav made waves by spinning discs”.

A fourth fan tweeted: “Will Young took ballet classes “pointe” and spins discs on BBC Radio 2 from time to time.”

“IT’S WILL YOUNG, HE TOOK BALLET LESSONS,” a fifth chimed in.

A sixth said: “That fish is Will Young – he loves ballet ‘pointe”.”

And it seems like they might be onto something as HOAR revealed that he had been taking dance lessons for 11 years back in 2016.

Lionfish has also given a number of other clues that indicate that it is the singer.

Others include French and German references, starring in the musical Cabaret and playing T Love in E4’s Skins.
