MEGAN McKenna is defying Simon Cowell’s warning as she refuses to tone down her “Essex outfits” for her next X Factor: Celebrity appearance.
Simon warned her last week to change her outfit shows because “this isn’t whatever the Essex thing is”.
But rather than listening to the music mogul, the former Towie star is going to “stick to her guns” – and keep with the glam outfits.
“I’m not going to hold back. I know what I like and I know the image I want as an artist so I’m going to stick to my guns and wear what I feel is right,” she told the Mail Online.
“When I’m on stage I obviously like to wear a little bit more as it is a show. There are no feathers this week though!
“With my style I have already pulled away from the Essex thing.”
The 27-year-old wowed viewers with her original song, This, on Saturday’s show.
She wore a fluffy white top and sparkly trousers with huge fluffy white hems at the bottom.
Simon said: “It’s so distracting and it reminds everyone of you being a reality star.
“And I know you want to move away from that. All I want to do is concentrate on the song and I thought the song was beautiful, so that’s my only criticism. I think you’re vocals were great.”
Viewers weren’t impressed with Simon, with one person saying: “Watched since a young age and can honestly say Simon is officially the worst judge, firstly complaining about Megans outfit? Referring it to Towie, Ive never seen someone wearing that on towie, she did a great performance and you hardly praised her #XFactorCelebrity.”
Another said: “Whys Simon being so rude though… Megan wasnt the worst outfit anyways…”
The other judges were much more supportive, with Nicole Scherzinger telling her she looked “beautiful”.
Megan was emotional when she discovered she was through to the live shows of the competition – which sees celebrities put their singing voices to the test in an effort to get a record deal.
She told them after being put on Louis Walsh’s team: “You don’t know what this means to me. I have wanted this my entire life.”
The telly star auditioned for X Factor twice in 2014 and 2015, and got to boot camp on both occasions yet all evidence of her appearance on the talent show has apparently been removed.
