Thom, 34, was forced to retire early from rugby nine years ago following a neck injury. He suffered depression and said seeing team-mates play was really tough.
But he added: I was grateful that I never ended up in a wheelchair. It was touch and go and they werent sure I could ever walk again.
It was a solid year of physio and when it initially happened it didnt look good.
I had a therapist to talk it through with afterwards and it made such a difference in making my full recovery.
I couldnt have done it otherwise. Talking about it was the best and I did it for a year. More men should do it.
