EASTENDERS fans were devastated tonight as Linda hit rock bottom and turned to booze after months of sobriety.
The former Queen Vic landlady had been really excited about the prospect of having a girly night out but let temptation win when Mick’s back was turned.
The recovering alcoholic, played by actress Kellie Bright, was left feeling self conscious when her husband Mick expressed his concerns about her going out around alcohol.
Earlier on in the episode of EastEnders the hardman, played by Danny Dyer, opened up to his wife and asked her whether or not she thought it was a good idea to be out around booze.
However, he quickly back tracked on seeing her face and told his wife that it was her “right to go to drag bingo as a woman from East London”.
Working behind the bar of The Albert, Mick tries to make Linda’s drink look fancy by adding an umbrella to the glass – but it’s clear she’s feeling the strain.
After pouring her soda water, and Max’s vodka and soda out, he leaves to get some more stock and the drinks look identical apart from the umbrella.
Fighting with temptation, Linda succumbs and swaps the umbrella over before taking a giant swig of Max’s vodka.
Fans of the soap were left devastated for her after she’d managed to stay off the booze for months.
One tweeted their dismay: “Omg Linda you don’t ever need to feel this way. You are a fighter and have come so far. Don’t give up now. Everything you do has been for Ollie and you have been so brave in fighting your temptations.”
Another penned: “A bar isn’t the best place for an alcoholic. Linda was setting herself up there.”
While a third wrote: “Linda having a taste of vodka. She’s mortified when she noticed Max was watching her.”
After Max caught Linda having a drink, the two have a heart to heart where he tells her about how he used to self-harm.
The two share a tender moment later on the balcony and kiss – is this the beginning of the end for Linda and Mick?

Her onscreen husband Danny Dyer then promised that the upcoming storyline would be huge for the Carters: “It’s a tricky one to talk about but potentially, when we come out of lockdown, I think I could have the best storyline I’ve ever had since I’ve been on this show…”
